This is for the HP laptop 15-dy2075tg, and It is applicable to other similar HP Laptop models like the 15-dy2093dx or the 15-dy2095wm, or the 15-DY2035TG, and perhaps more.
It has an open bay for a second SSD and an eight pin motherboard connector for the second SSD.
I got the 8 pin ribbon cable with the SSD connector, plug in the SSD, but neither the Bios nor the Win 11 system recognizes the SSD as an additional drive.
It is just not detected.
The SSD is detected properly in another laptop.
It may be the ribbon cable/connector issue but that's just a simple connection cable so it may not be the case.
The question is:
Is this a HP Bios issue not allowing a 2nd drive to be installed? It looks like it.
If the Bios detected the additional drive then the Win 11 system will see it.
Has anyone encountered this issue trying to install a 2nd SSD with this or with similar HP model laptops?
Any ideas, please share.

I know the specs, but the laptop has a SSD bay inside AND an 8 pin motherboard flat ribbon SSD connector.
When these two exist a second SSD can be added with the right flat ribbon cable/SSD connector.
There is a reason they are there, and a successful SSD install should be possible.
Other HP laptops with similar features have had the ability to add a second SSD.
The only reason I can think of is that HP in this/these particular model(s) has disabled this ability in the BIOS, so the BIOS is unable to detect a second SSD and therefore the Win 11 operating system can not see it.
Now, if anyone here has had success with this issue let us know because it's not just me trying to figure this out.
If anyone has any information about this/these HP model(s) having a crippled BIOS please share.

I've seen some people that have gotten a second hdd working in newer HP laptops that didn't come with a second drive. The problem I've originally seen is the ribbon cable, because if your laptop didn't have the 2nd drive it's hard to find the exact cable.
Did you have the service manual, and get the part number for the 2nd drive then purchase said cable?
For example, this laptop is a couple months old but no cable was listed for a second drive, so I ran across one for a similar HP laptop and bought it off eBay for $9. I have yet to try it out.

Service Manual In it you'll find the correct hard drive board and cable to use to mount a 2nd hdd.

I don't have a service manual for this or the other similar models I mentioned above.
I don't know how to get access to one or even that such a ribbon cable part # will be mentioned there.
I got this 8 pin cable but it doesn't help:
[content removed] by Mod
Added: Search AliExpress for 15s-eq.
The ribbon cable plugs in to the middle of the HD board.
I ordered another just in case that one was defective and also ordered this one:
[content removed] by Mod
Added: Search AliExpress for ls-h323p.
The ribbon cable plugs in to the side of the HD board. (As pictured on page 33 of the above linked HP service manual).
Maybe one of these will work. They all seem to be 8 pin generic cables that should work, but they all may be the wrong part for these late HP models with the wrong pin-outs.
An 8 pin ribbon cable SSD connector does not seem to exist specific to these late model HP laptops.

Thank you very much for the service manual link.
The hard drive cable mentioned on page 33 of the above linked manual, L52025-001, and the hard drive board connector, L52024-001, looks more like the second cable I've ordered above and waiting to arrive than the first one ordered and received that does not work.
I will also try to find the parts mentioned on page 33 of the above linked manual, L52025-001 and L52024-001, the hard drive cable and the hard drive board connector, and order them.
Looks like the HP part # for both the above is LS-H323P.
Hopefully, one of these will work.
I'll update here either way.

None of these cables/adapters/parts work on the 15-dy20xx series.
Maybe these laptops are crippled in the bios so an additional drive is not detected.
If you've found a solution please post here.
