Pavilion - 15-bc414nq
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I want to buy a m.2 form factor SSD . My laptop is good and all but it takes alot of time to boot/perform simple tasks considering this kind of processor(Intel i5-8250U).  I am pretty sure it would perform better with an SSD but i'm not sure which one is compatible and better. I haven't opened the case because i don't know if that would void the warranty.  I did some researches, and found this site that says my laptop has this Drive Interface: SATA/M.2 PCIe/SATA.

https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for/HP---Compaq/pavilion-15-bc414nq#SSDFilters

I am confused and don't know what kind of SSD should i buy: the one with SATA drive interface or the one with PCIe?

I have the following options. Would be thankfull to know what do you guys think:

Hi,

Upgrading drive will not void the warranty unless you break something during upgrade

Your notebook supports M2 SATA3 and much faster M2 PCIe NVMe SSD such as the Samsung 970 Evo or similar or the Kingston one you linked.

On page 41 of the service  manual, you can see the steps to install the drive

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06198371

You will need to install the OS on the SSD for performance gain.

Hope it helps,

David
