is RAM upgradable in HP 15q Core i3 8th Gen 15q-ds0058TU ? what type of RAM recommended? what is maximum RAM size possible in this model?

It has 4 GB DDR4-2400 SDRAM (1 x 4 GB) now and with Intel Core processor, it supports 32GB max. You can upgrade to
(a) 8GB: add same existing 4GB to slot 2 or using the following compatible RAM

(b) 16GB: install 8GB each to both slots using the following compatible RAM

Yes, that makes 12GB but you won't get benefit of dual channels

Normally same 2 banks run better because they use DUAL (two) channels.
