Hello,

I intent to upgrade the current 2x4GB removable SO-DIMM by bigger and fastest ones.

Can I put 2x16GB SO-DIMM instead ? Or more ?

Which bandwidth is possible/exploitatable ? 3200 MHz ? More or less ?

Response time CL22, or less or more ?

And to finish, as the CPU is a ryzen 5, should I avoid the XPM profile ? Does it matter ?

Best regards

Didier

Hi:

Your notebook should be able to support 2 x 16 GB of DDR4-3200 CL22 memory.

Do not buy memory with faster timings than CL22.

The DDR4-3200 memory will only run at a maximum speed of 2666 MHz.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for your fast answer.

Ok, I won't go for faster than CL22, I do understand it's unusefull in this configuration.

I don’t understand why it will run at a max of 2666 Mhz. The CPU must accept 3200 Mhz, is it due to the motherboard used ?

And have you any information about XMP Profile which is designed for intel processors and not AMD ones, maybe AMD just ignore it, I don’t know.

Best regards,

Didier

You're very welcome.

Yes, I was surprised that the model series runs the memory at 2666 MHz, and not 3200 MHz as other notebooks with mobile Ryzen 4xxx series processors.

I have a HP 15-ee0047nr notebook has an AMD Ryzen 5 4500U processor and 2 x 8 GB of DDR4-3200 CL22 memory, and the memory runs at 3200 MHz.

So it must be some kind of locked BIOS restriction.
