HP 17.3" HD Laptop, AMD Ryzen 3 3200U , Model # 17-ca1931cl
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

HP 17.3" HD Laptop, AMD Ryzen 3 3200U , Model # 17-ca1931cl  comes with standard 4GB of memory.

Does it have an  extra memory slot for the upgrade or I need to replace the standard memory chip with a new one?  Can I upgrade it to 8GB or 16GB?

Thanks.

Yes. Upgrading RAM and Drive is considered an accepted practice and will not void the warranty as long as you do not break anything during the upgrade.

Hi,

Max RAM for your notebook is 32GB of  DDR4 2400MHz (2x16GB) even if service manual mentions 16GB.

There are two slots and at the moment you have one 4GB module. So you could add another 4GB or 8GB module in the empty slot which should be enough.

You can buy from your preferred brand

Example:

https://www.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/hp---compaq/hp-17-ca1931cl#memory

On page 42 of service manual you can see the steps to install RAM

Hope it helps,

David

Should I disregard the manual information about user accessibility?

Two memory module slots (Ryzen, A9/A6 processors)
Memory is non-customer accessible/non-upgradeable
