I've got a 17-BY1061ST laptop that I bought new last November, and want to upgrade the RAM. I know it's 8GB ECC DDR4-2400 SODIMM. I just need to know if there are any other specs I need to watch out for that would make another off-the-shelf RAM incompatible with this laptop? Also, what's the maximum RAM this laptop supports?
Thanks in advance,
Mike

Its specs
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06325443
It has 8 GB DDR4-2400 SDRAM (1 x 8 GB). It MAY accept higher speed RAM (2666 MHz) but still runs at 2400 MHz
Regards.

Hello @Traflo ,
I have a german version of that notebook. Allthough it said in the specs 1 DDR4-2400 SODIMM, it came with a DDR4-2666 SODIMM and a second RAM slot. I set an additional 8 GB RAM module in the notebook and it works fine. You might want to look inside your notebook to see the specifics of the RAM, that you can get a second module with the same.

It works fine with 2666 Mhz or 2400 MHz ? My point is it WILL work at 2400MHz, not 2666MHz.
Hope this makes sense.
Regards.

Hello @banhien,
I understand your position. But doesn‘t it make sense to set a second module with the same specs in the notebook, rather than having one with 2400 and another with 2666? That was my argument to look what the notebook came with.
Please, correct me, if I‘m wrong. I‘m willing to learn more about that.
