17 By3053cl
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a 17 by3053cl with a HHD that stop working

So instead of buying a new HHD to replace it, I bought a SSD (M.2 NVMe SN550) to improve the speed of my laptop. Since the laptop have a SSD Slot which is not in use. I didn't use any adapter or bracket to install it. I also removed the damaged HHD from the motherboard

Laptop is recognizing the SSD (I checked the drive with the bios test for hard drives) but it doesn't appear on the boot list

I already have tried several options but it seems that the SSD Slot is not bootable......can someone please help me

Hi:

For some reason on some notebooks, the M.2 NVMe SSD doesn't show up on the list of bootable devices.

However when you go to install W10, it should find the drive, install and the notebook should boot from the SSD without user intervention.

Using another Windows PC running W7 64 bit or newer, use the HP cloud recovery tool to create a bootable USB recovery drive that will reinstall W10, the drivers and the software that originally came with your notebook.

Here is an info link for how to use that utility...

You can also use the Media creation tool to create a plain W10 installation flash drive and install W10 that way.

Download Windows 10 (microsoft.com)

After W10 has completed installing, you can install the drivers and available software from your notebook's support page.
