Hi, I replaced my keyboard on my Hp 17-ca0008ds & I was left with these 2 components. I would be very grateful if someone in the community could PLEASE answer these questions for me?
1.) Can you PLEASE reference this photo of a black strip left behind after I replaced my keyboard and help me with where exactly it goes? (Please note, the black strip is a bit curled, do I need a new one?)
2.) I also was left with a small little blue cable after I replaced my keyboard. Could you PLEASE reference the photo of the cable and help me with exactly where it belongs?
3.) I ordered a new battery while I had it open. It is a perfect fit, however, it didn’t come with screws and for whatever reason I wasn’t left with any. I would like to order the replacement screws for the battery on Amazon. If someone would be so kind as to tell me which exact screws I need for my HT03XL battery I would be very grateful.
4.) There was a long strip that ran underneath the hard drive (adhered) and a small (est. 3 inch) piece exiting the hard drive. It was too short to reach anything and I was extremely frustrated. It wasn’t until I added a small board component that had a compatible connection spot that I plugged it into. I would like to make sure that it was attached to the correct spot. Please see photos below and confirm that it is indeed in the correct location.
These questions are all I have for now and are more than enough I’m sure! I thank you in advance for any help that you are able to provide! 🙏🏻

I will have to say this can only be resolved by someone having the laptop and associated parts in hand.
Those of us who formulate mental pictures of how things fit together have no problem doing this.
The image with the blue flat ribbon cable actually says ODD (optical disk drive) and MB(motherboard) on it.
Never disassemble something without taking pictures! Always put small screws in a cup so they don't get lost. A piece of masking tape works for screws as well.
I suspect your only hope will be having a friend who likes challenges.
This is going to be a life lesson for you.
Maybe you will be lucky, but there are very, very few shops that will accept laptop basket cases. There are people who do the very same thing your did with motorcycles and the result is called a basket cases.

Hi, Erico.
Thank you so very much for your input and advice, it was greatly appreciated.
Funny enough I used to build PC’s from scratch just for fun, eventually landing a WebMaster position at a large university. It didn’t feel like going to work but much rather getting paid to do what I love.
Sadly, however, in 2015 I was diagnosed with Stevens Johnson Syndrome (SJS) and woke up in a the ICU Burn Unit. I lost my immune system and now have full neuropathy from head to toe. My Wife reported memory loss, short and long term. I still had most of my memory where PC builds, networking, coding, and web design were concerned.
However, my Wife of 20 years had a midlife crisis and wanted her freedom. I was absolutely crushed to say the least since after just.3 weeks of her being gone I suffered a stroke. Now THAT completely obliterated my memory, thus the reason for today’s ‘basket case”.
I did take photos as I always do, however, for some reason I missed the black strip in the photo and the short HD to MB cable. I’m pretty confident that I got everything right, except the remaining few things. IF anyone her can visualize where the black strip should be located and possibly confirm the correct connection circled in green I would greatly appreciate it. even if it’s q guess or Hail Mary toss! Thanks again, friend!
