Hello, don't know where to post this hopefully get some answers. I have a HP 7t-400 laptop that won't power up. I checked the charger and the battery both are fine. I opened up the case and other than fine dust no issues visible. I have checked power to the board and it is got power. Cleaned and re seated all connections and hard drives and tried new ones + ram. I read that the internal battery is also the closest reset. Unplugged all power held down power button to try reset. Still no power. I am computer literate and electronics capable. Any help much appreciated.

As far as I am aware, an HP 700-400 is a desktop PC .

Hello yes this is a laptop. HP 700t-400. I have tried many things to no avail. I checked for voltages across the board in the points marked on the motherboard. I get 21 v with it plugged in and battery 12v +. Whatever happens when you push the power button that few secs to power on is not happening. Not ram, chip, hdd, had,. I am at a loss as to why it just stopped working after it worked fine the night before. Tried cmos reset and all by removing internal battery.

This thing has me so wound up i can't think straight. It is a HP 17t-by400 laptop CORRECT THIS TIME. Anyways I still can't find the issue. I went an ordered a new motherboard for now. I don't know how far as technical you are but if you still want to try an help me it would be much appreciated. Hey maybe it can be saved. I purchased in 2001 but it does have the i7 processor and it was good enough for me. Just paid $110.00 for a slightly used one with money back guarantee it works(hopefully). By the way name is Don. Let me know if it's something you want help with. Thnx
