HP 2000-2a20CA Notebook
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I gave my daughter my HP 2000-2a20CA Notebook some 15mths  ago, currently Windows 10 v1803 with Windows Defender both fully up to date.

 

The laptop will only operate with its external power source. Tried removing the battery and refitting several times without success. Tried running command prompt for a report, but shows nothing of its current state.

 

How can I test the battery with its multiple contacts using a digital meter to check if its open circuit etc, or even if the laptop has any output to charge the battery.

Its oringinal from 2012.

 

just ran HP Support Assistant, and it confirms a battery failure.

 

Refitting:- taking battery out and refit as may have had a poor contact.

HP 2000-2a20CA Notebook with Windows 10 64Bit.

How old is the battery? What do you mean refitting? Most likely a new battery will solve the problem.
