Foolishly I downloaded and installed the latest (version 40.13) released 16 April - what a mistake!

I now cannot connect wirelessly to the printer. The installation software finds the printer on the network and then fails to connect. I have removed all HP software, reinstalled (a number of times), turned everything (printer, laptop, router) on and off, run HP Print & Scan doctor, all to no avail.

The HP installation software correctly identifies the IP address of the printer.

From the printer, I can scan to the computer, so comms over the wifi network is ok.

It is clear that there is a fault that has been introduced in the updated software. So, how do I revert back to the previous version?

So I resolved the problem by locating an earlier version of the software. I searched for OJ5740_Full_WebPack_40.11.1135.exe. I deleted the HP apps from my laptop and the printer in devices and printers then downloaded and ran this earlier version.

I had to "retry" once during the connecting to the printer stage, but now all is good.
