Query: I have HP 245 G7 Notebook PC. I would like to know if I can upgrade my laptop with WD Blue NVMe 250GB PCIe SSD?
Background on the issue: I am planning to add an SSD to my HP 245 G7 Notebook PC. The device originally came with 4GB DDR and 1TB HDD. I've done thorough research on the topic and I find conflicting views whether this particular model supports PCIe or SATA interface.
- In some HP forums, both users and moderators have mentioned that the upgrade should work.
- Some have referred to manuals on HP support stating it might be outdated for this model but the upgrade should work.
- While the rest of the folks have suggested that NVMe wouldn't work but only SATA SSDs
- Some youtube videos show the laptop being upgraded with NVMe SSDs and claiming to work.
It has become highly confusing on the truth, tbh. Hence, I am asking this query again here to ascertain that I buy the right part before upgrade, since it comes with no return policy (in India)

Hi:
NVMe SSD's are supported in the 245 G7 notebooks with the AMD Ryzen processors.
Here's a video which actually shows the drive working after being installed, not just being installed and the video ends.
Only SATA M.2 SSD's work in the 245 G7's with the AMD 'A' series processors and that assumes they have the M.2 slot.

Hi, thank you for quick response.
I have one query related to the video link. As from video screenshot at the end, the processor for the guy's laptop is Ryzen 5 3500U but mine is Ryzen 3 3300U. Will it still be compatible with differing processors?
