HP 250 G5
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, in the summer I asked about upgrade for editor software. But i went to the shop and they warned me about the parameters.

Product: HP 250 G5
Serial:W4M67EA#AKC

Motherboard: 81F1 (CHV)

I would like to upgrade:

-RAM and

-HDD

I already bought a Gembird MF-95-01 mounting frame(height 9.5). (link:  https://gembird.nl/item.aspx?id=8528   I would like to buy 2 HDD. One in to the frame and one to the laptop. I already look for 3 proudcts:

-Toshiba L200 2.5 2TB 5400rpm 128MB SATA3 HDWL120UZSVA

link: https://www.toshiba-storage.com/products/toshiba-internal-hard-drives-l200/

-Toshiba L200 2.5 2TB 5400rpm 128MB SATA3 HDWL120EZSTA

link: https://www.toshiba-storage.com/products/toshiba-internal-hard-drives-l200/

-Western Digital Blue 2.5 2TB 5400rpm 128MB SATA3 WD20SPZX

link: https://www.wdc.com/en-um/products/internal-storage/wd-blue-mobile.html#WD20SPZX

My first question is about the brand? Is it good? A lot of people recommend Toshiba and WD. They also mentioned the Hitachi and Seagate is not the best. Will it fit the mounting frame? And the mounting frame will work with my laptop?

And also the RAM. In the summer I get the information i can upgrade easily 16 gb DDR3.
I have got 2 slots. There is one free slot. The original DRAM Frequency 1599.3 MHz. That's all I know about my RAM. They said that there is difference between L and simple RAMs. The potential is different. The speccy show the Total Virtual memory 7.73 GB. I looked only 16 GB RAMs.

-G.SKILL 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 2400MHz F3-2400C11D-16GXM

link: https://www.gskill.com/en/product/f3-2400c11d-16gxm

-Corsair 16GB( 2X8GB) DDR3 1600MHz CMZ16GX3M2A1600C10

link: https://www.corsair.com/uk/en/Categories/Products/Memory/High-Performance-Memory/Vengeance%C2%AE-%E2...

-Kingston 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 1600MHz HX316C10FBK2/16

link: https://www.kingston.com/datasheets/HX316C10FBK2_16.pdf

16GB or 8GB? And there is something else I need to take care when I choose the ram? What kind of opportunities stand for my provision apart from these possibilitys? I mean external gpu, something else?

Thanks for your answer!

That system uses DDR3L. You should match what it has in it now. I cannot guarantee any of the other brands will work.

Thats why I said to match what it has now for its timings and rating.

You are also pointing to Desktop memory, you need laptop memory!!!

This one would be what you need...

Will you confirm the processor your G5 has installed?

Does it have the Celeron N3060 with 4 GB of DDR3L memory?

Specification Intel Celeron CPU N3060 @ 1.60GHz and 4 GB DDR3 4 GB Memory! You get it 🙂

I asked about upgrade for editor software. But i went to the shop and they warned me about the parameters.

The reason they warned you about the parameters is because the N3060 will only take single channel memory, one stick up to 8GB    DDR3L-1600

Here is the manual that confirms what they told you...

Its best to stay with the timings that are already installed in your system.

As far as HDD goes, I prefer WD only. I have had issues with Toshibas. But if you ask 10 different guys, you will get 10 different opinions.

The DVD to HDD caddy should have a switch on it also. It has to be switched off or the system might give you errors when booting.

Personally I wouldnt upgrade that system. Not worth the money. Just my opinion. If you need extra hard drive space, a USB external would be a better investment.

Thank you so much. I skip the the HDD option. For the RAM is it okay?

Choose the german site. EU is not availbale. I need to take 1600 Mhz ? If i need to is it good?

Kingston HyperX FURY 8GB DDR3 1600MHz HX316C10F/8

I would like to ask that also. Can i upgrade the CPU? I see the different levels. And when I buy it I know it was the most basic. Intel Core i7-6500U. i5-6200U, i3-6100U or the Intel CoreTM i3-5005U? Is it possible?

Thanks for your hélp!

Can i upgrade the CPU?

No, laptop processors are generally not upgradable like a desktop is.
