HP 250 G5 W4N23EA

Greetings,

I want to buy the HP 250 G5 W4N23EA and I was wondering if it is able to upgrade from the HDD to an SSD M.2.

Do I need to replace the HDD connector?

Is there an extra acessory needed?

If the above upgrade is possible, I would also like to know if installing a caddy for the HDD is possible for this laptop.

I apologise in advance if my question has been asked before.

Thanks,

Orfeas.

Heres the Manual:

Manual

See pages 61 and 66. It can take an M.2 disk but to use it you have to put it in the same slot as the hard drive so you can have EITHER a 2.5 inch SATA hard drive/SSD OR an M.2 SATA disk.

You have to have the correct cable and caddy for the type of drive you want to use. So if you buy it with a hard drive it will not come with the hardware for an M.2 disk and vice versa

So if you order it with a mechanical drive and want SSD speed just get a 2.5 inch SATA SSD. There will be no speed benefit to an M.2. Since it has to go through the same SATA connection port, the M.2 and a 2.5 inch SATA SSD would perform about the same. And you would not need extra hardware if you buy it with a mechanical hard drive and want to switch to a 2.5 inch SATA SSD.

You can have an HDD/SSD or an M.2 SSD not both.

Click on Hard disk drive and SSD.

I personally do not like this setup.

Thanks for the quick reply!

I didn't know the M.2 and HDD/SSD connectors were different and that's what I wanted to learn.

I will consider my options regarding HDD/SSD or M.2.

Thanks again.
