Hello everyone!
I have bought a 250 G6 laptop a while ago.
It has a motherboard with N4000 CPU.
I am thinking about upgrading it. I have found a couple of motherboards with i5-7200u CPU or i7-7500u, I was wondering if it is possible to replace the current MB to the one with i5/i7?
i5:
HP 15-BS Laptop Motherboard w/ Intel i5-7200U 2.5Ghz CPU 924751-601
i7:
HP Inc. Mb Dsc 940Mx 4Gb I7-7500U 907411-001
If this kind of upgrade is possible then which one is better to choose UMA or DSC?
Thank you in advance,
Nick

Hi Nick,
Those motherboards are not compatible. You need to get a motherboard from the 250 G6 series.
On page 64 of service manual, you can see the compatible motherboards and part numbers. Naturally discrete graphics (not UMA) is better as it will have a dedicated video card.
If you replace the motherboard you will also need to replace the heatsink. On page 59 you can see the various heat sinks and how to install them. (Use quality thermal paste)
You might also need to replace the RAM. As the model you have I believe uses DDR3L RAM, where Intel Core versions use DDR4 RAM.
