Product: HP 255 G7 2D232EA
Spoiler
The specifications page says the laptop comes in memory module configurations of 2x4 Gb, 1X8GB and 2X8 Gb ram (16GB) ram. for example here is one such specs sheet: https://h20195.www2.hp.com/v2/getpdf.aspx/4AA7-3903EEAP.pdf
and here: https://support.hp.com/si-en/document/c06194380#AbT6
on model HP 255 G7 2D232EA (model that comes with Ryzen 5 3500U) It says one slot is occupied and that RAM is not upgradeable. What does that mean? it is not soldered, so why would max out at 8 GB, if there is a version of same model with 16 GB available? Can it be upgraded at repair service?
I understand that Win10 home might take 8 GB max, but Linux can take a lot more and usually the Ryzen laptop boards are limited at 16 GB or newer &mor expensive ones at 32 GB.
Also on Youtube there are instructions on how to upgrade ram to 16 GB on a model with Ryzen 3. why would you be able to upgrade on cheaper model, but not on the more expensive one?
Can disk be upgraded/added? i found it in repair manual that one can add a board and SATA cable for disk. or is there something that would prevent the PC from working if it had 2 drives in it?

Hi:
Your notebook supports 2 x 8 GB of memory.
The '(slots are non-accessible/non-upgradable)' means that HP wants customers to take the notebook to an authorized service center to have the memory upgrades done.
If you look at the service manual, chapter 6, pages 35 & 36, you will find the procedure to remove and replace the memory.
