Hi!
I wanted to upgrade the RAM on my Laptop an HP 255 G8 running with an AMD Ryzen processor. With the specification being an AMD 3020e with Radeon Graphics.
I'm running with an 8GB DDR4 2400MHz RAM drive with one upgradable RAM slot (currently in use by my 8GB RAM drive). I want to upgrade it to a 16GB DDR4 2666MHz drive but I dont know whether or not that'll harm my laptop. Can anybody tell me whether or not this is a viable thing to do.

Hi:
Run this command to see if it would be possible to install a 16 GB memory chip in the single slot:
1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.
This will open the command prompt.
2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and press the enter key.
There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.
The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.
If the report indicates 33,xxx,xxx (32 GB), then you should be able to install a 1 x 16 GB DDR4-2666 MHz memory chip.
The report will be picking up the circuitry for the missing second memory slot.
Make sure it is CL19 if you are buying a 2666 MHz chip.
If the report indicates 16,xxx,xxx, then you will have to live with 8 GB of memory.
