Hello,

I need to buy an additional power adapter for my laptop (HP 450 G10 85C55EA)  with a 90W output (currently, I have a 65W USB-C charger). Which one of the options listed below will be compatible with my device?

1. H6Y90AA#ABB (HP 90W Smart AC)

2. W5D55AA#ABB (HP 90 W Smart Power)

Thanks 🙂

@Joseph_Balcerek,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

According to: https://partsurfer.hp.com/partsurfer?searchtext=85C55EA&searchby=product, the original 65-watt charger has a USB-C charger connector-end with p/n: L67440-001 "65W ADAPTER, nPFC, USB-C 1.8".

Meaning, any 90-watt charger with a USB-C connector-end will do.

Kind Regards,

Thank you for the reply 🙂

Can I use power adapter with a 'barrel type' AC connector (instead of USB-C)? I need this two usb-c ports for something else.

@Joseph_Balcerek,

Yes, as long as the 90-watt charger has the 'blue-tip connector' (4.5mm x 3.0mm) and delivers a 19.5V (~4.6A) output.

One last thing 🙂

Maybe i'm wrong and I don't need a 90W power adapter at all. Intel says that i5 1340p top TDP is 65W...My conclusion was: Standard (65W) power supply is too weak because the processor alone consumes 65W, and will it somehow limit performance (especially under cpu heavy tasks). Make sense?

@Joseph_Balcerek,

In my opinion, the standard HP (OEM) recommended power supply (USB-C or laptop 4.5mm blue-tip power connector) should be 90-watt, so I should stick with that.

My laptop came with a 65W USB-C charger and that's why I want to upgrade.

Thank you 🙂

@Joseph_Balcerek,

My bad, I meant to say that I agree with your previous assessment to upgrade to a 90-watt charger.  A 90-watt charger would run cooler too compared with a 65-watt charger, especially when you charge your laptop whilst using it at the same time.
