Hi everyone,

I'm running into a charging issue with my HP EliteBook 640 G7 — the laptop simply won't charge.
Here’s everything I’ve tried so far:

BIOS Update: Updated to the latest version available on HP’s website.

Driver Update: Updated all system and battery-related drivers.

Charger Test: Confirmed the charger is working by testing it with another laptop (charger is fine).

Battery Swap: Swapped in a working battery from another HP 640 G7, but this laptop still doesn't charge.

Based on this, it's safe to conclude that both the charger and battery are not the issue.

Questions:

What could be the next probable cause? (Motherboard? Charging circuit?)

Has anyone faced a similar issue on this model? What was the fix?

Any idea about approximate repair costs (for motherboard repair or charging port replacement) if I go via HP Authorized Service?

Would it be more economical to get it fixed by a local repair shop? If yes, what should I be careful about?

Extra Details:

Laptop otherwise powers on and works if the battery has some charge left (but cannot recharge).

No visible damage to charging port or motherboard (externally).

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! 🙏

Thanks in advance!
