Hi,
I am having problems with my HP 8540W and it's bluetooth adapter.
Somehow when i bought this computer (used) then it had bluetooth on it and everything was fine. After formatting my harddrive, bluetooth and everything with it dissapeared. My first quess was that my built in adapter is dead, so i left it like that.
A few days ago I bought a SSD, installed id and I also got a new bluetooth adapter. So everything is new again, but my computer is still not finding bluetooth.
Bluetooth adapter is not showing up in device manager, nowhere. When I try to install the exact driver to Broadcom BCM92070 then it says that bluetooth device not found...
I don't want to use a bluetooth dongle - i should have a built in one, maybe someone can help... I have tryed everything I can imagine, installed different wireless adapter drivers, etc.. But still nothing.
Thanks for your help.

Are you sure it is Broadcom ? If yes, please try the following driver

Regards.

Yes I am sure it is broadcom, I have changed the adapter, located under armrest, on the right side of the computer. Very easy to get to, just one screw and the lid comes off.
I have installed this driver before that you suggested, didn't work.

Hi, @Jaanus
I see two potential issues here...
1. You had the HP Wireless Assistant (HPWA) software installed, and the BT was turned off when you reinstalled W7.
Unless you reinstall the HPWA software, any wireless device previously turned off using that software--including the wifi adapter, will not reappear in the device manager, even though the BIOS shows it present and enabled.
2. You have the HP integrated BT module, which is a proprietary BT module made by Broadcom for HP.
Here are my recommended steps to resolve the issue of the disappearing BT module...
1. Install the HP Wireless Assistant software restart the PC, and use that software to turn on the bluetooth radio.
This package contains the HP Wireless Assistant for the supported notebook models and operating systems. The HP Wireless Assistant reports the power state and Microsoft Windows Device Manager status of integrated wireless devices, alerts the user when the status of a device changes, and enables the user to turn integrated wireless devices on and off.

2. If the BT module is now found by the HPWA software, but still doesn't work, then install the HP Bluetooth driver package...
This package contains the software required to support the HP Integrated Module with Bluetooth Wireless Technology in the supported notebook/laptop models and operating systems. The HP Integrated Module with Bluetooth Wireless Technology provides wireless connectivity to other devices from the integrated module of the supported notebooks/laptops. It also provides additional Bluetooth Profiles.
