Elitebook 8570w
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hi there!

So i'm looking to revive my old HP 8570w, i went to add more RAM under the keyboard in the 2 listed slots and lo and behold the RAM slots that should be located under the keyboard are completely missing. I see the place on the motherboard where they should be soldered and they are just not there. Is this how it is supposed to be? I've looked up tons of pictures of this laptop and all of them have these slots, did i somehow just get unlucky? Is there any recourse?

Thanks!

If your notebook was delivered with a dual-core processor, there will only be two soDIMM slots present.

The quad-core Elitebook 8570w mobile workstations have four soDIMM slots.

First off thank you for your reply!

Secondly,

I do believe it is a dual core so that would make sense. My next question is if it is possible for me to solder on the missing ram slots myself and if they would work without any firmware updates. I am an electronics technician by trade and extremely confident in my ability to cleanly and professionally attach the slots.

Thanks!

Sure. Why not?

If you can find  PC3 soDIMM slots, it will be desolder the pads time and then on with the new slots.

I was just pondering this same issue.  Looking at my new quick 861dw and having been disapointed by ebay 8570 with a 8560 in the other room  😄

My first and best assumption is  also sure why not" but when I thought it throught more.... do they test traces and boards with defects went to dual core configs? wouldnt see a particular reason those traces would be defective more than others on main board but if you can salvage a defect its probably a few bucks on the books (and what corp isnt looking for this)...

can anyone chime in here?
