HP Pavilion Notebook - 15-p204
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I'm new to the HP community.

I am having a problem. Well, I can't really say it's a MAJOR problem as there is no threat to the system or anything, it's just one of them annoying little things.

Yesterday, I updated my BIOS to F.43 after being prompted by HP support assistant. Update went successful, loaded back up laptop, and the update is STILL showing as not installed on the HP support assistant. I reinstalled it and it is still showing the same thing.

Is this just a bug and is it really installed and the support assistant hasnt been updated??

thanks

Hi @GarethWilliamss,

Thanks for posting in the HP Forums and Welcome.

I read about the HP Support Assistant prompting you to download on your HP Pavilion 15-p204 Notebook. As you suspected this is a glitch. Skip the update.

I hope this helps.

Thank you so much for replying.

As I done the update twice, will that affect my laptop in anyway? Or as it was already installed the first time, the second installation didn't in a sense matter.

Hi @GarethWilliamss,

It was already installed and that is the glitch.

Thanks.

I gathered that:)

So installing it the second time will not make a difference? I dont know whether its just me overthinking but since installing twice my laptop is a little slower. That may just be me over thinking it.

So just to confirm, installing twice will not affect my laptop in any way? Like, the bios hasnt updated twice and has 2 updated version running at the same time making it slower if you get what I man

Hi @GarethWilliamss,

No, it won't hurt but I would try to reload the factory installed BIOS Setup settings. http://ow.ly/Jsqq302g0dj.

Then try the update.

Let me know. Thanks.

Thank you for suggesting this to me.

I will try this. So will this restore it back to the version that it was before any updates took place?

Will doing this harm my laptop? (Eg. data lost and windows updates lost)

Thanks for your help

I reloaded the settings and my laptop is more responsive, the HP BIOS is still showing the latest up to date version:)
