My laptop battery doesn't increase when charging, and when I turn it on, there's a notification saying HP Battery alert (601) or (60x). The support page on hp.com suggests updating the BIOS, but there is no update available for Windows 11 version 24H2. Please assist.

Hi @EricArmando
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.
The HP Battery Alert (error codes such as 601 or 60x) usually indicates that your laptop's battery may not be holding a charge effectively, and it's likely nearing the end of its usable life.
Since HP’s support page recommends updating the BIOS but no update is available for your specific system and Windows 11 version, here are some alternative steps to address the issue:
1. Confirm Battery Health
The error code suggests a battery issue, so let’s confirm the health status of the battery:
Turn off your laptop.
Press the Power button and repeatedly tap the Esc key to open the Startup menu.
Select System Diagnostics and choose the Battery Test option.
If the test confirms the battery needs to be replaced, this will clarify the issue.
2. Check Charger and Connections
Sometimes, the issue could be with the charger or power port:
Ensure the charger you're using is the original HP charger designed for your laptop model.
Check the power cable, adapter, and port for damage or loose connections.
Try plugging the charger into a different wall outlet.
3. Perform a Power Reset
A power reset can resolve hardware communication errors:
Shut down the laptop and disconnect the charger.
Press and hold the Power button for 15–20 seconds to discharge residual power.
Plug the charger back in and turn on the laptop.
4. Attempt Manual BIOS Update
Even if there isn’t a BIOS update specifically for Windows 11 version 24H2, you can try reinstalling or updating to the latest available version for your laptop:
Visit the HP Support website and enter your laptop model. Official HP® Drivers and Software Download | HP® Support
Download the latest BIOS update available for your system, even if it’s for a slightly older Windows version (e.g., Windows 10).
Install the BIOS update by following HP’s instructions—BIOS updates are not dependent on the Windows version itself.
Restart your laptop after applying the update.
