Greetings!
I have an HP Chromebook 15 that I've only used a handful of times over the past few years. I now have the need to use it regularly. I attempted to charge it yesterday but the charging light just blinks red and the device won't power on. I tried a few different suggestions that I found online (holding down the power button, leaving it on the charger overnight) and so far nothing is working. My guess is that I need a new battery but I can't figure out how to even access the battery. My warranty is expired and the closest HP chromebook service center is over an hour away from me. Anyone out there have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!

Hi @Walker1976,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you've already tried some basic troubleshooting steps without success. Here are a few more things you can try.
- Reset the Chromebook: Sometimes a hard reset can resolve power issues. To do this, press and hold the Refresh key (which is usually the fourth key from the left on the top row, with an arrow forming a circle) and then press the Power button.
- Check the Charger and Cable: Ensure that the charger and charging cable are working properly. Try using a different charger if possible, preferably one that matches the specifications of your Chromebook.
- Inspect the Charging Port: Make sure there's no debris or damage in the charging port that could be preventing a proper connection.
- Attempt a Powerwash: If you can get the Chromebook to power on at all, you might try a factory reset (Powerwash) to see if that resolves the issue. This can be done from the Chrome OS settings.
- Battery Replacement: If none of the above steps work, it's possible that the battery may need to be replaced. Unfortunately, accessing the battery in many Chromebooks, including some models of the HP Chromebook 15, requires disassembling the device.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
