Looking to see what others have tried when upgrading there Memory. Notebook in question is a HP COMPAQ PRESARIO CQ56-115DX, WINDOWS 7 HOME PREMIUM 64BIT UPGRADED TO WINDOWS 10 HOME UPDATE,
I have been to the Crucial.com website and understand they have some which are guaranteed compatible. I'm wanting to verify what other brand have been.
- INSTALLED & NON-COMPATIBLE ???
- INSTALLED, COMPATIBLE & WORKING ???
That would be my main question. The more info the better as I do not really know what numbers or the identifications mean what. If anyone could give me a run down that'd be AWESOME! What I do, "think I know" is it must be the following which is not everything I "need to know".
- DDR3 SODIMM
- 204 pin
- 1.35V
Now thinking about it, I have another part to the question. I want to max out the upgrade at 8GB [from my research/HP website or windows is what I found to be the max]. My decision would be based solely on peoples recommendations of either of the following, if there is any benefit over one or the other, and vice versa???
- Single 8GB stick [using 1 of the 2 slots available]
- Two 4GB sticks [4GB in each of the 2 slots available]
What I do "think I know" on this part is that if using both available slots, the Sticks need to be identical. When trying to research this part I came across something about & don't quote my use of words, I think it was described as dual channel something when using both slots. I could be totally off on this though.
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE

Unfortunately, Hynix does not supply any compatibility information to consumers, unlike other memory manufacturers.
See the following link for guaranteed compatible memory modules and SSD products for your notebook.
