Hello!
I was having this issue recently with my HP laptop. Whenever I would charge it, it would either not charge at all, or it would charge, then stop, then charge again, etc. every couple of seconds. I need to unplug and replug it back often until it would finally keep charging. When it started happening about a month or two ago, it was still more or less fine, but now, it takes lots and lots of tries before it keeps charging. I am using an HP Laptop 15-bw0xx that is slightly more than a year old. I tried running a troubleshoot, using different outlets and examining the cord and adaptor but it looks fine.
Any help is appreciated!

@TechStrong You've done the core troubleshooting, however, sometime the basics may resolve such issues, hence, here are a few steps that should help in this scenario, considering the cord and adapter is fine:

 

I have a few steps listed below that should help you resolve this concern:

Unplug the charge, Turn off the laptop and turn it back on after 30mins.

Reinstalled Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery under device manager:

1) In the search box, type and open “Device Manager”.

2) Expand “Batteries”.

3) Right-click the "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" that is listed there.

4) Click on “Uninstall”.

5) At the prompt put a check in the box to remove the current driver

6) Shutdown the computer.

7) Remove the battery for a minute and then put it back in. (Skip this step if you have a non removable battery)

8 - When the computer comes back up it should automatically find the driver.

9) Go to Device Manager.

10) Expand Batteries.

11) Right-click the "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" that is listed there.

12) Click "Search automatically for updated driver software"

Do the same thing with Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Embedded Controller.

This might seem stupid but the charger works fine after I threw it into the ground and restarted my computer. The basics do resolve issues very well.

@TechStrong That's rather unorthodox way of fixing things, I remember doing that to my TV's remote, back in the 90s, however, I wouldn't suggest you do that if the issue was to recur (hopefully, it doesn't) but if it does, I suggest you get the charger replaced, as it works after getting a beating! 😄
