RE: HP-14-ca030nr Chromebook

I was recentlly given this laptop as the original owner's son had screwed it up and could not fix it. The Chromebook owers on but none of the keyboard keys are working, although the touchpad is. I have done a powerwash but that has not helped. This is not a newer laptop but it seems worth some trouble to fix. Thanks in advance for any help.

Does a USB external keyboard work as expected?

If the previous owner opened the Chromebook up, he may have not correctly connected or even inadvertently damaged the keyboard connector.

You are going to have to open it up to see,

That you for the suggestion- much appteciated. I will open up the case if necessary but I have another question: if the internal cable has been disconnected somehow, would the touchpad still be functional?

HP Recommended

The touchpad and the keyboard have separate ribbon or zif connectors.

There are plenty of internal connectors inside of the Chromebook.

Thanks once again for the information. Will try to borrow a USB keyboard before the surgery.
