HP Chromebook x2 - 12-f015nr
Chrome OS

My keyboard randomly seemed to stop working correctly. When I press certain keys, other keys are also registered (for example, if I press "d", the number "6" also is registered as an input). This happens for multiple different keys. Nothing was spilled on the keyboard. I tried restoring the device, and the same issue occurs. Any suggestions? Or can I purchase a replacement keyboard since this is a detachable device?

@joshvons,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I reviewed your post and I understand that the keyboard is not working correctly on your computer.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

I recommend you follow the below steps and check if it helps.

First, turn off your Chromebook completely (don't just close the lid).

Next, hold down the Refresh key and then press and hold the Power button. Hold both down for 10 seconds.

Release the Refresh key and then the Power button and your Chromebook will restart. If it doesn't start, press Power again.

If you continue facing the issue, then follow the below steps.

  1. Sign out of your Chromebook.
  2. Press and hold Ctrl + Alt + Shift + r.
  3. Select Restart.
  4. In the box that appears, select Powerwash and Continue.
  5. Follow the steps that appear and sign in with your Google Account.
    Note: The account you sign in with after you reset your Chromebook will be the owner account.
  6. Once you've reset your Chromebook:

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!
