@Technic_Master,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I would like to inform you that you will not able to increase the memory for of the graphics card as it is system managed. Windows XP uses a paging file to provide a temporary space on your hard disk that acts like RAM. Paging files aren't as fast as RAM, but they can help ensure that the computer doesn't run out of memory when performing memory intensive tasks and/or when running programs that use large amounts of graphics. Computers that need a lot of memory should have the paging file set to an appropriate amount to ensure reliability. Virtual memory stores information that Windows doesn't need to access immediately, freeing up the RAM to perform more resource-intensive tasks.

Please follow the below steps to increase the virtual memory for graphics.

1. Log in with an account that has administrator privileges.

2. Right-click the "My Computer" icon and select "Properties.

3. Select the "Advanced" tab and then choose "Settings" under the Performance section.

4. Click the "Advanced" tab and select "Change" under the Virtual Memory section.

5. Select the drive that you want to change the paging file on. On most computers, this is the C drive.

6. Click "Custom" under the Paging File Size For Selected Drives. Enter in the amount of space you want for your virtual memory paging file.

7. Click "OK" to save changes and apply the new paging file to your system.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

This is the correct way to increase the size of the paging file but will do nothing for video. The Intel GMA 950 will take whatever memory it needs from otherwise unused system memory. However, this will almost never happen in real operation. Additional video memory would not come from the paging file in any event. The paging file is on the hard drive and the video card will only use actual RAM not paging. Again, all this is just theory. The GMA 950 is not a very powerful graphics system so has no ability to use much memory anyway. There is nothing you can set that would make it perform any better in games.

i played minecraft on that laptop it was old version but when i looked at my ram usage in msi afterburner it was 499-503mb and because the gpu is taking 8mb of ram the system ram is 504mb. So i will upgrade it to 1gb ram. And will it run with 2gb of ram or the max ram is 1gb as hp webside says it?

So you only have a half gig of system RAM? Wow. I do recall you will be able to address a bit more VRAM if you upgrade that. But don't expect much improvement in video performance. The system will run 2 gigs system memory yes.
