HP Compaq 6720s RAM upgrade with error conflict

Hello all,

i buyed a 2 GB RAM PC2 5300 module form my Compaq 6720s, a reconditioned from HP notebook.

My notebook have yet 2 GB of ram, mounted in a Samsung  module and i buyed the new module for upgrade to 4 GB, max amount of ram supported.

Since first time, i got many grafics artifacts with 2 module togheter and also the BIOS ram test speack about errors.

I tryed to put the new module on all 2 available slot but when are togheter there are problems and system restart continuosly.

With RAM new or old alone (so 1 only module of 2 GB) all go fine as in past, in every slot i use...

... it make to think RAM module are incompatible but is same module PC2 5300 SoDimm.

I request the vendor (from online store) for a new module thinking about a damaged component; they sent me new module but same problem.

I have the last (i think) bios version possible for my PC (v 1.32) and the bios detect ram upgrade when the 2 module (total 4 GB) are mounted.

What i have to think ? Can someone help me please ?

RAM for Compaq 6720s  machines is a very tricky one, you have to buy supported RAM from HP specs. Please use part # EM995AA  (2GB) for your machine

It is a 12 or 13 years old machine, Buying part EM995AA could be very hard, please try eBay.

Thank you for your answer, my module are a EM995AA type, Is from offtek distributor.

So why with 2 modules It wannot boot and generate errors? Can i do something? Or have i to abandon this upgrade?

Please if you know a way to make this module work since it seems to have the right characteristics suggested in last post suggest to me...
