Regarding HP Compaq Elite 8200 USDT (ultra small factor).
I'm planning to upgrade my mother's computer so that it can still run a bit while doing basic things.
I have some lying around 8GB PC3 - 10600 CL9 sodimm modules and I wonder if anyone has tried putting 2 x 8GB into this model with positive results. I saw a mention of 2 x 4GB in the manual but I suspect that 8GB modules were simply not available back then. The processor should support up to 32GB, the chipset is Q87.
I want an I7-2600S for the processor upgrade (currently it's I3-2120), the power supply is 135W so it should withstand 65W TDP.
The HDD upgrade will be to SSD, 512GB, SATA3.
Has anyone done a similar memory upgrade in this model?

All I can tell you is that my two HP 8200 Elite CMT's support 4 x 8 GB of DDR3-1333 MHz memory with 4 memory slots, so I agree with you that it may be possible to install 2 x 8 GB of DDR3-1333 notebook memory in the USDT's two memory slots.
Installing an i7-2600S is supported in the model series and it does not indicate that the 180W power supply is required.
The 180W PSU is required if the PC came with a MXM graphics card.

Thanks. That's what I was thinking, no reason it shouldn't work since banks support 8GB modules. I've also seen results on one of the benchmark sites where 8200 USDTs were listed with 16GB RAM. I'm pretty sure it will work.
Do you think that on a 180W PSU the 2600K would work well in USDT? I wonder if the thermal system is good enough to handle the heat dissipation from a 95W TDP processor?

You're very welcome.
I don't believe the i7-2600K would work, but if it does, yes there would be a heat issue in that small case.
Probably the heat sink isn't rated for 95W either.
I do see a few reports where users did install the i7-2600 but that would definitely need the 180W PSU, and again you would have the heat issue.

It's a big gamble that I don't recommend you take.
