Hi all,
I have just bought a used HP DV6-6b60EA (i3) "Spares or Repairs" from ebay. Came with no charger or HDD. Thought I'd repair it. Well as it happens I already own a HP DV6 6c54ea (i7) and was able to swap some parts and got the laptop working. However this is the problem. The laptop did not come with a HDD sata cable. However my own DV6 laptop sata cable works ok. So I bought one from ebay (copy) but that didn't work. Seller sent me another but that didn't recognise the HDD either. I contacted the seller of the DV6 I bought and sent me the sata HDD cable that came with it "apparently" and that didn't work either. So I'm struggling to find a HDD sata cable that will recognise the HDD. The one that works is a genuine HP marked as 50.4ri05.011. There are none on ebay worldwide available at the moment but a few with similar numbers but not my exact part number. I don't want to "trial n error" if possible when buying cables.
My question is, is there another HP HDD sata cable part number that is compatible to mine 50.4ri05.011? There are a few available such as 50.4SU16.03, or 50.4RN07.001 or I don't understand the numbering system to know I can't believe this is so hard to replace? HP Parts has nothing listed for either DV6 laptops probably because they are older laptops? There has to be more than just one cable to buy to replace mine surely?
Thanks in advance for your help and advise.

The numbers you find on these cables may or may not mean anything. They are generally internal stock or SKU numbers for the particular part maker. HP has its own parts system and it is best to use the HP part number when ordering if possible. Here is the Service Manual:
You can see on p. 32 that HP only included the HDD cable as part of a "cable kit" including several cables and it is part number
640422-001
You are in the UK so for parts such as this the place to start is eBay which you did but need to search by HP Part number but in this case it only brings up the optical cable.
This appears to be the one you bought, right?
I would try this as the seller says it is pulled from a DV6-6000
This cable from a dv7-6000 series is a little longer than you need but also would work. Same connection:

Thank you Huffer for going to all that trouble for a stranger. I really appreciate it. I have contacted the ebay seller of your 2nd link and waiting for his response. I am waiting for the response of a few more also. The information you have shared with me will be very helpful and thanks again. I'll report back when I have more info.
