HP ENVY Laptop 13-ba1000 (1J6N4AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

My ENVY laptop will not charge when connected to an HP Elite Display model S240uj.

Previously I owned a Surface Laptop 3 with did charge via this same display.

Can anyone tell me why my laptop won't charge?

Its specs

and the monitor

Your machine requires 65W and the monitor wattage rating is 60W max. It may charge your machine overnight, sleep or doing nothing.

Thank you for getting back to me.

Am I right in saying that I HAVE to use a thunderbolt 4 cable to make the charging work? Or will any USB-C cable do?

My Surface Laptop 3 also had a 65W requirement, but did charge. The USB-C port on the SL3 was a 'dumb' port (not a TB-port). Guessthat's what made it work on the SL3...?
