Thank you, Diesel, for the information. I hope that will be the end of your troubles with the machine. It's too good of a deal to pass up, so I will take my chances and hope that if anything breaks, it will be during the warranty period only.

Hi Nicola, the hard drive caddy kit you mentioned 603772-001 has been discontinued by HP.

 

Several websites that sell the item say that this caddy kit is for older versions of this laptop (~2011). It might just as well work for the new version. Have you tried installing it?

 

There is still no official repair and service manual posted to HP's support site for this 2019 model 8DV35AV (ENVY 17t-ce100 CTO).
