HP ENVY TS m6 Sleekbook
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

My computer's Ethernet port clip has snapped, not the hinge, but the plastic itself has broken.  This is the part that bends down to clip the Ethernet cable into the computer.  If I hold the cable in the Ethernet port my computer still receives data through it.  Let me know if you need any more specifics that i haven't thought of.

The part snapped in the middle and needs to be replaced.

Here is the Service Manual:

See page 40. The cover is held to the chassis inside with 2 screws. It is a replaceable part and is included in the plastics kit.

RJ-45 module cover (plastics kit) 727464-001

HP wants $55 for it:

The clip is usually on the ethernet cable itself and then the port on the computer has a slot in it that the clip springs into. What is broken? Can you take a picture?

This first picture is how it should look, with the piece of plastic that snapped off set back into place

This second image is of the piece that fell off

The last image is how it looks now, missing the plastic piece shown in image two

as you can see in the first image the plastic piece was supposed to bend out to allow the ethernet cable to snap in, and now, as you see in the third image, it has broken off so the cable does not snap on.

Does anyone know if this part will work on the HP Envy 17?  The Envy 17 Service manual doesn't  a module cover in the parts list.

HP Recommended

I just had this replaced.  So I'd like to share for reference the part details.

The actual part = 914220-001

However this came as part of a replacement kit = 821175-001

This kit had all sort of miniature plastics and covers that come in handy if you have taken it apart and lost some, but otherwise is just a lot more than you need to complete the repair.
