HP ENVY 16 inch Laptop PC 16-h0000 (534C6AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi. I'm confused.
I have bought the HP ENVY Laptop 16-h0010nr and I want to upgrade my memory (16 Gb to 32 Gb).
The user manual says that such models HP ENVY Laptop 16-h0000 support configuration with 32 GB (2 x 16 GB).
Crucial site claims such model supports memory up to 64 GB.
But the wmic command (wmic memphysical get maxcapacityex) gives only 16777216  -> 16 GB.
Could wmic make a mistake?
Could I do a memory upgrade or not?
If not, it is very strange.

I haven't tried the memory upgrade yet, but can the "wmic" command get wrong result in theory?

Yes, I think it could because of the discussion I posted, and the manual indicates 32 GB is supported, and I have also seen it wrong the other way.

wmic report indicates 32 GB is supported, someone installs 32 GB, and it doesn't work.

HP service manual indicates 16 GB is supported.  Manual is correct.

It doesn't happen very often though.

Well, I asked HP tech support and they claimed this laptop supports 32 gb (2*16) configuration.
So, I will try despite the wmic result and hope it will work correctly.

After that, I'll let you know what the result is. In any case, this is strange behavior.
