HP ENVY Laptop 17-cg0xxx Product Number 8KG04AV
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I just got a new HP ENVY Laptop 17-cg0xxx (8KG04AV) two weeks ago.  Lately it has been suddenly using very high power and very high CPU.   Also, the CPU fan gets very loud.  This goes on for several minutes.  When I open Task Manager, it shows that Microsoft Edge is the source for the extreme usage.  However, I am only using email and viewing static web pages in one or two browser tabs.  Nothing major.  What is causing this high CPU and power usage and how can I fix it?  Thank you.

I solved the problem.  The issue was caused by Microsoft Edge, Bing, and Windows 10 all working together to collect my personal data constantly in the background, as I was using the internet.  I switched to a different browser and a different search engine that allow much greater control over my personal data and the issue has not occurred again.  No more revving CPU fan or high power usage.  It's wonderful!
