Hi @TJ8799
Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
I’m sorry to hear that the touchscreen stopped responding after you replaced the keyboard. You’ve already done a careful job reassembling the device, so let’s go step by step to bring the touchscreen back to life.
Step 1: Check hardware connections
Since the touchscreen relies on a separate cable connection to the system board, it’s possible that during the keyboard replacement the touchscreen cable was loosened or not fully seated.
- Power off the computer completely.
- Disconnect the AC adapter and remove the battery if possible.
- Reopen the unit carefully and check that the touchscreen/digitizer cable is firmly connected to the motherboard.
Step 2: Verify in Device Manager
- Press Windows key + X and select Device Manager.
- Expand “Human Interface Devices.”
- Look for “HID-compliant touch screen.”
- If it’s missing, the system isn’t detecting the hardware, which usually points to a connection issue or driver problem.
Step 3: Run Windows updates
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
- Install all available updates, including optional driver updates.
This ensures the touchscreen driver is refreshed.
Step 4: Use HP Hardware Diagnostics
HP provides a tool to test hardware functionality:
- Restart the computer and press F2 repeatedly to open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI.
- Select “Component Tests” > “Touchscreen Test.”
- Follow the on-screen instructions to check if the touchscreen responds.
Here’s a direct guide from HP on using the diagnostics tool:
HP PCs - Testing for hardware failures
Step 5: Calibrate or reset the touchscreen
- Open Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Tablet PC Settings.
- Under “Display,” select “Calibrate the screen for pen or touch input.”
- If calibration isn’t available, it means Windows isn’t detecting the touchscreen, again pointing back to the hardware connection.
The fact that the touchscreen disappeared from Device Manager strongly suggests the cable connection was disturbed during the keyboard replacement. Once the cable is reseated securely, the touchscreen should reappear and function normally.

Thanks for all your efforts and patience.
The HP ENVY M6‑N010DX does not have a separate downloadable touchscreen driver. The touchscreen is managed by Windows through the built‑in HID‑compliant touch screen driver, which installs automatically when the hardware is detected. If the touchscreen no longer appears in Device Manager, the issue is almost certainly hardware connection related, not driver availability.
Why You Don’t See a Driver
- No standalone driver: HP does not provide a dedicated touchscreen driver for the ENVY M6‑N010DX. The official HP driver page lists chipset, graphics, audio, and BIOS updates, but touchscreen functionality relies on Windows’ native HID drivers.
- Automatic installation: When the touchscreen hardware is properly connected, Windows will automatically load the HID‑compliant touch screen driver. If it’s missing, Windows cannot detect the hardware at all.
What This Means for Your Case
Since the touchscreen disappeared from Device Manager after the keyboard replacement, the most likely causes are:
- Touchscreen/digitizer cable not seated: During reassembly, the cable connecting the touchscreen to the motherboard may have been loosened or disconnected.
- Cable or connector damage: If the cable was pinched or bent, the system won’t detect the touchscreen.
- Motherboard connector issue: Less common, but possible if the connector was stressed during the repair.
Steps You Should Take
Recheck the hardware connection
- Power off, unplug, and carefully reopen the laptop.
- Locate the touchscreen/digitizer cable (separate from the keyboard ribbon) and ensure it is firmly seated.
Run HP Hardware Diagnostics
- Press F2 at startup → Component Tests → Touchscreen Test.
- If the test doesn’t detect the touchscreen, it confirms a hardware connection issue.
Update Windows and drivers
- Install all Windows updates and optional drivers.
- Update BIOS and chipset drivers from the HP driver page.
Check Device Manager again
- If “HID‑compliant touch screen” reappears, the driver will load automatically.
- If it’s still missing, the hardware isn’t being detected.
Risks & Trade‑offs
- Driver download won’t fix missing hardware: Searching for a driver won’t help if the cable is disconnected.
- Repeated disassembly: Each time you reopen the laptop, be careful to avoid damaging connectors.
- Hardware replacement: If reseating doesn’t work, the digitizer cable or touchscreen assembly may need replacement.
There is no separate driver to download. The touchscreen relies on Windows HID drivers, which only appear if the hardware is connected and detected. Your next step should be to carefully reseat the touchscreen cable inside the laptop.
