Hi there,
I'd like to upgrade my PC Notebook HP ENVY TouchSmart m7-j120dx (ENERGY STAR) by installing this SSD drive (HP S700 2.5" 1TB SATA III 3D NAND Internal Solid State Drive (SSD).
Is it compatible? Will it fit?
Thanks.

You're very welcome.
This is the standard size for a SSD...6.35-cm (2.5-in) x 7.0-mm (.28-in).
A 7.0mm thick drive will also fit where a 9.5mm thickness drive is indicated.
It seems to me based on the dimensions of the drive you posted, it should also fit but is just a bit thinner than normal.
It is a 2.5" drive. As long as it lines up with the sata connector it should fit, and I can't imagine why HP would sell a drive that doesn't fit in any notebook that uses a 2.5" drive.

Hi:
Any 2.5" SSD should work in your notebook up to 2 TB, so the 1 TB HP drive should work fine.
You may also want to consider this one as an alternative. It has the best performance for the price, IMHO.

Oh thanks for your answer. I didn't know that any 2.5" SSD would fit in my notebook HP.
The User Guide of my laptop describes the following specs:
Hard drives
Supports 6.35-cm (2.5-in) hard drives in 9.5-mm (.37-in) and 7.0-mm (.28-in) thicknesses (all hard drives use the same bracket)
Customer-accessible Serial ATA
S700 2.5”Series
Physical Dimensions
100 x 69.8 x 6.7 mm
Would it fit?? 🤔
