HP Envy x360
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Last night my Laptop was on low battery so I plugged it in overnight (thinking it was charged this morning).

I used it for a short while this morning (unplugged). I fixed myself a cup of coffee and when I came back to sit in front of my computer the screen was black.

I hit the power butter quickly, nothing. Then I held down the power button for a moment to see if it would power back up, still nothing.

I plugged the laptop in with the wall charger and still nada. I noticed the power light on the laptop was not changing and it remains Orange. I have now left the laptop plugged in for 2 hours and no change.

Maybe a  failed power cord that won't charge the laptop?

Any tricks or suggestions to check?

Thanks!!

The full model of the laptop might help. How old is the battery? You san an orange light comes on when you plug in the AC adapter? Have you tried a hard reset?

Is there a reason that you have not provided a complete product name or product number(SKU)?

By doing that, you essentially blindfold anyone trying to help you arrive at a solution. We need to know the hardware configuration of your notebook and that is what the Product number(SKU) helps us find out.

I suggest that you use your notebooks HP PC Hardware Diagnostic utility to test the notebook system, the battery and the charger.

Press the power button from and OFF state and start tapping the F2 button to invoke the HP PC Hardware Diagnostic utility.

For how long have you owned and used the notebook?

How do I do a hard reset?

The laptop and charger are about 1 and 1/2 years old.

The orange light stays on whether I plug in the wall charger to the laptop or disconnect it from the computer.

It's still possible you need a new battery...run the battery diagnostic in HP Support Center.
