Hey, I recently realized that one of my two RAM slots is broken and had to remove one of the modules. I would now like to upgrade my RAM but I cannot find any reliable information on what is supported by my model. The service manuals I found are either not specific enough or not available on the website (literally dozens of links are broken).
In particular: can I put a 32GB DDR4 module into the remaining slot? (I am assuming that 16GB should work fine)
Thank you!

Hi:
The Crucial memory report for your notebook indicates that it can support 2 x 32 GB of memory.
The maintenance and service guide is below and doesn't provide much help.
HP ENVY 15-ed0000 x360 Convertible Laptop PC (8JE93AV) Manuals | HP® Customer Support
That is because chapter 1 indicates the memory is an integral part of the motherboard (non-removable), and chapter 5 contradicts that and has a procedure to remove and replace the memory.
If you had Windows installed, you can do this to confirm how much memory your notebook can support, but I have no idea how to find any info like that using Linux.
1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.
This will open the command prompt.
2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and hit enter.
There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.
The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.
Intel indicates your notebook's processor can support 64 GB of memory.

I also have Windows 11 installed. wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx gives me 33554432 (so seems like 32GB).
Is this per slot or in total?
If this is total, does it imply that one slot can only support up to 16GB, or would 1x32GB also work?
edit
when I run wmic memphysical get MaxCapacity, MemoryDevices I get
MaxCapacity MemoryDevices
33554432 2
so considering this I hope that means 2x32GB

According to the report, it indicates that the slot would support up to 1 x 16 GB of memory, but the Crucial report indicates it can support 2 x 32 GB of memory, so I don't know what to tell you.
If you can buy and return the compatible 32 GB crucial chip if it doesn't work, you may want to do that.

Otherwise, play it safe and live with 16 GB...

And Crucial is right! the CT32G4SFD832A works. I only had to do (or watch the notebook automatically do) one CMOS reload after switching the modules. Didn't try any other brands but both Linux and Windows 11 running smooth and the 32GB are utilized (I could push it above 16 on my Linux).
