I understand your HP ENVY TS-M6-N010DX touchpad feels too sensitive and you’re wondering whether this model is known for that and if a BIOS update might help. Let’s go through a few points that can help explain what’s going on and what you can try.
Touchpad sensitivity and laptop models
Many HP ENVY series laptops use a Precision Touchpad with high sensitivity by default.
Some users feel the default settings are overly sensitive, but this isn’t unique to just this model.
Check Touchpad settings in Windows first
Open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Touchpad.
From there, adjust sensitivity (e.g., from “Most sensitive” down to “Medium” or “Low”) to reduce accidental cursor movement.
Update or reinstall touchpad drivers
In Device Manager > Mice and other pointing devices, find the touchpad entry.
Right-click to update the driver or uninstall it (Windows will reinstall on restart).
A driver update often corrects erratic or overly sensitive behavior.
BIOS updates can improve hardware behavior
Yes, BIOS updates sometimes include touchpad firmware tuning or better ACPI handling.
Since your BIOS is currently F22, check HP’s support site for your exact model — if there’s a newer version (e.g., F23, F24, etc.), it’s worth applying.
How to check for a BIOS update
Go to the HP support page for HP ENVY TS-M6-N010DX.
Enter your product, check available BIOS versions, and follow HP’s instructions for updating.
Touchpad sensitivity vs. hardware issue
Replacing the keyboard/touchpad assembly can help if the hardware was defective.
If sensitivity issues persist after driver/BIOS updates and settings adjustments, it is more likely configuration than hardware defect.
Reduce accidental taps or gestures
In the touchpad settings, disable tap to click or multi-finger gestures you don’t use.
This can significantly reduce unintended cursor movement or clicks.
Restart and test after changes
After adjusting settings or updating drivers/BIOS, restart the laptop.
Use it for a few minutes to confirm whether the sensitivity feels more natural.
I hope this helps.
