I currently have SanDisk SD8SNAT-128G-1006 - 119.24 GB installed. I have run out of sufficient C drive space to update windows. I know I could reinstall to remove bloat files, however, if I do this I wish to upgrade to a larger C drive capacity. I have already upgraded the D drive to 1TB ssd. I have been looking to upgrade to a WD Blue 3D NAND Internal SSD M.2 SATA, 500 GB, however i have seen PCIe/NVME M.2 available for a small additional cost. Amazon link below.
The question is am I able to upgrade to PCIe/NVME M.2, or should i stick with the M.2 SATA.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi:
According to chapter 1, page 2 of the service manual, your notebook's model series' M.2 slot supports both SATA and NVMe SSD's.
You may also want to look into the Samsung 980 (not Pro), which may run a bit cooler than the EVO Plus 970.
The write speed is a little slower though (3,000 MBPS). I don't think the 2,600 MBPS spec is correct.

Hi:
You can install Windows on the drive as it comes.
If you want to temporarily disconnect the hard drive, you can use the HP cloud recovery tool to create a bootable USB recovery drive that will reinstall W10, the drivers and the software that originally came with your notebook on the new SSD.
Here is an info link for how to use that utility...you will need a 32 GB USB flash drive to create the recovery media with.

Unfortunately the drive i ordered did not work. My fault entirely as I should have ordered a sata drive. I have now re ordered a replacement sata https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B073SBX6TY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1.
I used macrium to create a disk image, of the original drive, however neither this or a fresh recovery install worked. Drive arrives late Friday so fingers crossed this will work.

Sorry the NVMe SSD didn't work.
Chapter 1 of the service manual indicated the M.2 slot would support either type, so apparently the manual is incorrect and only SATA SSD's are supported.
Thanks for letting me know this, so that in the future if someone wants to upgrade to or replace the M.2 SSD, I can let them know that only SATA SSD's are supported.

Happy to say that the new drive works brilliantly.
I initially cloned the original C drive to the new drive & swapped over. Everything worked as it should. Then completes a system restore, so started from scratch. Once all software loaded, I will make a backup, so if it starts to run slow in the future a simple drive restore will be all that's required. Thanks again for your assistance.
