Common problems for Battery

HP ENVY x360 - 15m-cn0012dx

When looking at the service manual I can see that physically I can upgrade my SSD to a WD Black SN850x NVMe with 4TB of memory, if possible, I would also like to add the Corsair VENGEANCE Series 32GB DDR4 SODIMM 2400MHz CL16 memory kit. Is there anything I should be wary of or should it be plug and play?

The parts list indicates that HP installed these two memory chips in your notebook:

HP PartSurfer

862398-855
8GB, 2400MHz, PC4-17000, 1.2v DDR4 SODIMM

L10598-855
SODIMM 4GB 2666MHz 1.2v DDRM

I can't find the CL specs on either chip part number.

I highly recommend you run the free utility that I zipped up and attached below so you can see what the CL speed is of both chips that HP installed.

I am pretty sure you will find the 8 GB DDR4-2400 chip is CL17 and the 4 GB DDR4-2666 MHz is CL19.

If you want to install faster timing memory than the standard memory HP installed for the speed, that's your decision.

You can install a WD Black SN850x NVMe SSD, but since your notebook's SSD slot is only PCIe Gen 3.0, a Gen 4.0 SSD will not run at its maximum advertised read/write speeds.

This table shows the maximum transfer speeds each PCIe slot generation can provide:

I do not recommend installing memory with faster timing specs than the standard memory HP installed in your notebook.

That is because you cannot make any manual adjustments to the memory XMP in the BIOS and if the notebook's BIOS cannot compensate for the faster timing speeds, the notebook will either not boot up or the memory performance will be awful.

Standard CL speeds:

DDR4-2400 = CL17

DDR4-2666 = CL19

DDR4-3200 = CL22

So now that I’ve looked at the manual it looks like a CL17 2666 was installed from factory, so the best fit would probably be Corsair’s C19 4000?
