Hello, I have had an HP ENVY x360 for the past ~4 years and it has worked fine for me during that time. However, about 4 weeks ago the fans turned on and never came off. Performance also took a big hit and has made the device nearly unusable. I tried doing a factory reset and reinstalling windows, but it did not help. I also ran the in-depth HP hardware diagnostics and there were no errors detected. Last week I took it in to a local repair shop and the technician there said that the CPU was stuck at 400 mHz due to an error with either the firmware or hardware in the motherboard that is somewhat common in my model. He said there is no way to fix it short of just replacing the entire motherboard or buying a new computer. Is there any way for someone here to help me out or am i dead in the water at this point?
