HP ENVY x360 Convertible 15m-bp0xx Notebook
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

@Nicole13, @Rick-S

I have an HP ENVY x360 Convertible 15m-bp0xx Notebook and the left hinge is broken; which prevents the laptop from being operated (open/close) without potentially causing additional damage. I've noticed a large amount of people reporting this exact problem.  In addition, the broken hinge component caused the bottom-left corner of the touchscreen display to become separated from the laptop "lid"/cover.

  • NOTE : This is the second notable hardware defect issue I've experienced with this laptop. Only 3 weeks after purchasing this laptop I contacted HP Customer Support regarding a "grinding" sound coming from my laptop. IT was identified by the HP tech as an installation defect with the fan hardware.

"There are clearly major problems with HP's design and manufacturing of hinges.  After having the hinge break on my ENVY 15 Notebook this summer, HP repaired it. Just a few months later, it broke again (despite extremely careful use throughout the time that I used it)."

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

If you are unfamiliar with how the Community's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Community.
