HP ENvy x360
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi! I just bought an HP ENvy x360 and it is constantly overheating. I just can't use it while charging because every 30 seconds y shuts down, and it also happens even when no being charged.

The fan seems to work on the left because it makes a sound.

Also, the battery doesn't last more than 3hs when it advertises as if it lasts up to 11hs.

What can I do?

Welcome to HP forums, I see that your notebook is overheating.

To assist you with clarity, I would require more information regarding this.

  • Did this happen after a power outage or surge?
  • Did you perform a bios update on the machine?
  • Does the fan spin at all or if it does is it loud and noisy?

For now please perform all the prescribed steps from this link: HP Notebook PCs - Reducing Heat Inside the Laptop to Prevent Overheating

Also, check this link out:  HP Notebook PCs - Why Computers Generate Heat  for further assistance. It has good to know information.

I would suggest here is to update the Bios and Chipset drivers. Also, download and install HP support assistant on your PC. It should automatically download and install the latest updates and drivers for your PC.

Refer this link to know how to use HP support assistant.

Let me know how it goes.

To thank me for my efforts to help you, please mark my post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.

Cheers.

Hi!

I'll answer question by quetion.

  • Did this happen after a power outage or surge? NO, it happens all the time, mostly when charging.
  • Did you perform a bios update on the machine? Just did the bios update.
  • Does the fan spin at all or if it does is it loud and noisy? It's not particulary loud.

I installed HP support assistant and it says I don't need more driver updates.

Nevertheless, when I'm chargin the laptop it shuts down all the time.

Whats should I do?

Thanks for the reply,

I appreciate your time and effort.

Possible cause:

1. Power adapter failure.
2. Motherboard failure.

Possible troubleshooting steps and repair solution:

First of all, test the power adapter. Make sure the adapter outputs correct voltage. It’s possible that the output voltage is not correct and the laptop shuts down to prevent the damage. Test your laptop with another known good power adapter.

If the problem still exists, even after replacing the adapter, most likely it’s the motherboard failure. Replace the motherboard.

Let me know if that helps.

Go to Task manager

If you see "Windows Audio Device graphic Isolation" running at high CPU kill it by seleting it and click on end task.

This will resolve your over heating issue
