i got this HP EliteBook 745 G6 AMD Ryzen 5 PRO 3500U  2.10 ghz pc and it did not have a drive or ram. i powered it up and i get 3 long beeps and 2 shorter beeps a bit higher pitch. the caps lock and f10 keys flash together with the beeps and the wifi key is on steady.

so i put 1 stick of 8 gb ram in both the dimm1 slot and then the dimm2 slot it still does this. no hd yet and i removed the battery and i'm using a known good power supply.  but i have never had an hp beep without a drive i just get a screen  notice the drive is missing.

i did notice the cpu gets a bit warm and the fan is on the fan on. is normal but i never felt the cpu on other pcs after a minute of power to see how warm they get.  also i did check the finger temp after i let it stay on after the beeps stopped for 10 minutes and it did not feel much warmer so that may be normal.

so i still have time to return it if the beeps mean the pc is seeing a hardware issue.  it not and this is normal how do i get to the bios with a missing drive but ram and is the ram in the correct slot? however i did moe the ram to dmm2 slot and still get the beeps

ok it was the memory stick was bad. i put in a known good stick and it came up to the post error. so now to see what happens when i get the drive and some new ram.

so i took that questionable stick and put it in the pc i took the known good stick from and it works in that pc. go figure.

thanks
