HP EliteBook 840 G10 can't charge via Docking Station Verbatim USB-C Pro Multiport Hub 8 Port CMH-08, 32151

Docking Station supports USB-C Power Delivery 3.0 Standard

Error messages:

"USB device is requesting more power than system can provide"

"HP recommends using an original power adapter from HP"

I am using an original 65W power adapter from HP, only difference is that it is connected inside the Docking Station. That's the whole point of having a Docking Station.

@Alter_Ego_

Your Verbatim USB-C Pro Multiport Hub 8 Port CMH-08, 32151 is NOT compatible with your HP 840 G10 machine. I know the HP USB-C G5 and few other HP docks are compatible with your HP 840 G10 machine.

>>>> That's the whole point of having a Docking Station.

and that is the whole point to have a COMPATIBLE docking station.

@Banhien could you please explain why it was working properly with my old G8 and HP decided to break it with the G10?

I just want to understand the reason. I understand that HP wants to sell their own docking stations but I want to understand from a technical standpoint why the Verbatim was able to charge the G8 and not the G10.

In case there is a software switch in the G10 detecting the manufacturer and disabling non-HP charging: that would be horrendous.

The specs of HP: Thunderbolt 4 with USB4 Type-C 40Gbps signaling rate (USB Power Delivery, DisplayPort 1.4)

The specs of Verbatim: USB-C PD Charging Port: Power Delivery (PD 3.0), up to 100W upstream charging for source devices like laptops and MacBooks. Charging is limited to 85W
