HP EliteBook 840 G3
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Dear Community,

I am planning to upgrade my EliteBook's RAM but before I make purchaces, I just wanto to make sure what the max memory it supports? I know this question has been asked alot, but I still could'nt find a clear answer especially whats mentioned about a "Mobile Workstation" part in manuals, which says can support upto 32Gb.

Can you please advise if my Elitebook is considered a Notebook or Mobile Workstation? And as per my below specs whats the Max memory it can support, 16 Gb or 32Gb?

My Specs are:

Hp EliteBook 840 G3

Intel i7 6500u

Existing RAM: Samsung 8GB DDR4

Would appreciate your help. Cheers.

Hi:

According to the specs on page 11 of the document below, since you have an 840 G3, you can install 32 GB of memory (2 x 16 GB).

Your notebook is not considered a mobile workstation, however.

The Elitebook and Zbook mobile workstations have dedicated MXM graphics cards.

The graphics in your notebook is fixed to the motherboard.
